Hi!
I'm Jenn, and this is my 23rd year teaching in an Early Childhood Setting. I currently work in what I affectionately refer to as the Dragon's Den. I teach a 3-5 year old class serving typically developing students and students with exceptional needs in the basement corner of our PK-8 school in an urban MA public school. I live nearby with my husband and my cat Bronx. My daughter is a nurse at a local hospital. I live a life full of teaching, developing and working in afterschool programs, mentoring teachers, playing handbells, and writing children's books.
I'm passionate about giving each child the best possible start in school. I believe that school is a place where every child is welcome and can achieve at their own pace. I work incredibly hard to provide an inclusive and respectful setting for all. I set high expectations and focus on creating independence and self-confidence in the students in my care. My classroom provides a respite for older kids who need a break, or teachers who need a smile. I believe we NEVER stop learning and growing as professionals, so I consume a ton of professional knowledge podcasts and books to continue to learn more about the newest advancements in the field. What always stays at the forefront is relationships and respect. With these two focus points, all is possible and even the toughest character can be successful.
In this blog I hope to inspire you, to support you, and to pick you up on the tough days. We all have them. We need to support each other and keep our focus on the awesome things going on in our classroom in order to survive this crazy life. I'll share resources, ideas, and the real deal on teaching in 2023 and beyond. I'll share excerpts from my books and secrets to doing more with less.
You are an achiever, you can do hard things! I'll believe in you until you believe in you!
